SAFENAV PROJECT HIGHLIGHTS AT ISOPE CONFERENCE 2024

The SafeNav (Safer Navigation) Project team, represented by Srdan Žuškin, Igor Rudan, and Martina Žuškin from the University of Rijeka, Faculty of Maritime Studies (UNIRI - Project Partner), recently showcased their pioneering work at the ISOPE Conference in Rhodes, Greece.

From June 16th to 21st, the 34th International Ocean and Polar Engineering Conference (ISOPE 2024) brought together distinguished specialists to share ground-breaking insights into ocean and polar engineering. Amidst this gathering of experts, the SafeNav team delivered three impactful presentations, highlighting the project's objectives and progress.

The team introduced the SafeNav Project and presented the following scientific papers, in collaboration with the Project Partner, the University of Genoa(UNIGE):

- Ship Collision Detection and Classification Employing AIS Data (Link)

- Dynamic Safety Zone Assessment for COLREG Compliant Navigation DSS in Integrated Navigation Systems (Link)

SafeNav Project, a three-year maritime initiative, aims to develop and test an innovative Collision Prevention Solution. This solution is designed to significantly reduce the likelihood of collisions and groundings, thereby enhancing navigation safety for both current and future vessels, including those intended for remote operation or autonomous navigation.
