The mission of SafeNav: to develop a next-generation collision-avoidance interface designed for both civilian and military bridges. Intuitive, AI-assisted, and inspired by the aviation sectorโs TCAS (Traffic Collision Avoidance System), this solution aims to enhance situational awareness and decision-making in real-time.
Led by Captain Jorgen Grindevoll, founder of SafeNav, the project addresses a critical need โ ๐ฐ๐ข๐ญ๐ก ๐จ๐ฏ๐๐ซ ๐,๐๐๐ ๐ฆ๐๐ซ๐ข๐ญ๐ข๐ฆ๐ ๐ข๐ง๐๐ข๐๐๐ง๐ญ๐ฌ ๐ซ๐๐ฉ๐จ๐ซ๐ญ๐๐ ๐ข๐ง ๐๐๐๐ by the European Maritime Safety Agency, navigation safety remains a major concern. Despite existing international COLREGS, these rules are still often poorly applied, leading to avoidable accidents.

SafeNav brings a new approach to maritime safety by delivering a predictive and intelligent interface that supports bridge crews in high-traffic or low-visibility environments. By analyzing ship trajectories and behaviors, the system warns of potential risks before they escalate.
The project is supported by a robust European consortium of industrial, academic, and technological partners, including:
